Aptos Commits to Google Cloud’s Web3 Startup Program
tl;dr:
Aptos Foundation has joined Google Cloud’s Web3 startup program
Aptos’ expanding partnership with Google Cloud gives startups the support they need to focus on developing infrastructure, bridging platforms connecting people and fostering the future of web3.
Months before mainnet launch, Google Cloud and Aptos began a shared journey to provide the Aptos community with support and tooling needed to focus on developing infrastructure, bridging platforms connecting people and fostering the future of web3. From Google Cloud running a validator on Aptos to co-hosted hackathons, Google has been an invaluable partner that not only recognizes the potential of Web3, but wants to make it a reality. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to announce our participation in Google’s Web3 startup program.
The Web3 startup program – which builds upon the existing Google for Startups Cloud Program – gives Web3 startups the technology, community, and resources that they need to focus on innovation over infrastructure as they build dApps, Web3 tooling, services and more. Bringing more builders into the Web3 fold is crucial, but so is collaboration between traditional tech companies like Google and chains like Aptos that provide resources startups and indie devs need to build, then scale projects with interoperability, performance, and upgradability.
In addition to sharing a Web3 adoption vision, our partnership with Google Cloud has generated several milestones over the past year. Among them:
A partnership in the Clouds
In April 2022, Aptos announced Google Cloud as one of our inaugural cloud partners while still in testnet. Key components of our initial joining of forces: providing scalable, secure, and sustainable infrastructure for developers within the Aptos network to build and scale their applications. Aptos Labs also began using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for its internal development operations and collaborated with Google Cloud to make GCP the best place to run Aptos nodes for the developer community.
November 2022
With the incredibly positive reception of our initial announcement, we had some news to share on the stage at Token 2049 in November:
Google Cloud is validating and participating on the Aptos mainnet with a staked block-producing node.
Google Cloud supported Aptos in BigQuery to expand access to Aptos data.
Google Cloud and Aptos will be co-hosting hackathons where internal teams will be hacking on Aptos and deploying projects with the potential to scale swiftly and globally.
Google Cloud and Aptos launched a multi-million dollar fund to support Web3 entrepreneurs and builders.
Web3 Startup Program
As we continue working to meaningfully bring Web3 to the masses in 2023 (what we call our year of intention), we are thrilled to announce our participation in Google’s Web3 startup program, which builds upon the existing Google for Startups Cloud Program . This program gives Web3 startups the technology, community, and resources to focus on innovation over infrastructure as they build dApps, Web3 tooling, services, and more. This collaboration with Google Cloud is essential to bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 and successfully guiding the mass adoption of blockchain for users and builders.
The buy-in from a Web2 giant like Google Cloud is a significant milestone for Aptos and the broader blockchain community. We are confident that our partnership with Google Cloud will continue to drive innovation and progress in blockchain technology for years to come. And we’re excited about the next phase of this vibrant partnership.
