Ecosystem Spotlight: Tapp Exchange — Redefining the DEX Model with Hooks

In case you missed it, Tapp Exchange—a next-generation decentralized exchange (DEX)—now live on Aptos mainnet, introducing a modular approach to on-chain trading.

Built with customization and flexibility at its core, Tapp leverages a unique hook-based architecture that gives developers the power to embed custom logic directly into DeFi transactions—offering a level of adaptability rarely seen in traditional DEX models.

Redefining the DEX Model

As the first modular DEX on Aptos, Tapp Exchange brings a new dimension to trading infrastructure. At the heart of its design is Tapp Hooks—a framework that enables developers to tailor swap behavior, integrate yield strategies or embed specific conditions directly at the protocol layer.

Rather than offering a fixed approach to trading, Tapp Hooks make it possible to design programmable financial flows while accessing deep, composable liquidity. This opens the door to a wide range of on-chain use cases, from automated liquidity routing to custom compliance logic and beyond.

Built for Customization and Speed

Tapp Exchange is engineered for performance and precision. Instead of enforcing a one-size-fits-all model, it uses smart contract hooks to modularize every step of the trading process. Developers can build and plug in components as needed, whether to add fees, route assets or beyond.

This modularity is powered by a combination of Move’s resource-oriented programming model and Aptos’parallel execution engine—Block-STM—to ensure that Tapp can deliver low-latency swaps and scalable logic, all while keeping fees minimal.

Early Ecosystem Traction

Tapp first joined the Aptos ecosystem in February 2025 when the team ventured to New York City for Aptos Xpontential—a program built to accelerate the growth of promising early-stage projects.

Shortly thereafter, Tapp launched its testnet in April 2025, offering early users and ambassadors incentives to explore its features. Within the first week alone, the platform saw:

  • 20K+ unique testers

  • Over 1 million transactions

To further engage its early community, Tapp also issued a soulbound NFT to the top 50% of testnet participants—an exclusive reward that celebrates early experimentation and signals ongoing alignment with the broader Aptos DeFi ecosystem.

Why Aptos?

Since joining the ecosystem, Tapp has fast expanded its presence across the ecosystem through integrations and partnerships with projects like Echo Protocol, Revive Finance, Moar Market and Kofi Finance, which also recently launched on mainnet.

Tapp has also begun collaborating with Aptos-native projects such as AmaterasuSekai, piloting standards like Hybrid Assets to expand the design space for tokenized assets and composable liquidity.

The team chose Aptos for its:

  • Parallel execution model to power high-throughput swaps

  • Secure and expressive smart contract language (Move)

  • Modular design ethos that supports rapid innovation

  • Developer-first tooling and ecosystem support

Looking Ahead

Tapp Exchange exemplifies the kind of flexible, high-performance DeFi infrastructure that Aptos is designed to enable. By rethinking how DEXs can be built—from the ground up, with modularity in mind—Tapp is helping to define the next wave of decentralized trading systems.

As the ecosystem continues to scale, Tapp’s composable, developer-friendly foundation positions it as a core contributor to Aptos’ mission of building a global, on-chain financial system that is fast, accessible, and open to all.
