Global Finance Moves Faster on Aptos

What happens when the world’s most widely-used stablecoin meets the blockchain built for payments? You get the fastest, most affordable dollar on-chain.

This week, Tether’s USDT went live on Aptos—a milestone that will reshape global payments and allow users to send USDT in less than a second, for less than a penny. With USDT now on Aptos, developers can begin integrating stablecoin functionality and building new financial tools for efficient digital transactions:

  • Token Name: Tether USD

  • Token Symbol: USDt

  • Mainnet Address: 0x357b0b74bc833e95a115ad22604854d6b0fca151cecd94111770e5d6ffc9dc2b

Tether x SK Telecom x Aptos

Adding to the momentum, Aptos Foundation also announced that SK Telecom’s T wallet will support Tether’s USDT. This integration not only broadens USDT on Aptos’ reach but also demonstrates the ecosystem’s ability to bridge Web2 and Web3. With T wallet’s seamless login flow via SK Telecom’s PASS app, accessing USDT on Aptos becomes easier and more familiar for users.

What This Means for the Aptos Ecosystem

This marks the first-ever USDT integration on a Move-powered blockchain, significantly expanding global access to digital currency through Aptos’ high-performance and secure infrastructure. Here’s why this matters:

  1. Global Financial Inclusion: By extending Tether’s reach, Aptos offers emerging markets an affordable entry point to digital finance.

  2. Efficiency for All Scales: Aptos handles low-fee, rapid USDT transactions, making the stablecoin ideal for both micro and large-scale payments.

  3. Move-Powered Reliability: The Move programming language boosts Aptos’ performance and interoperability, providing a stable, developer-friendly foundation for financial applications.

Building the Future of Finance on Aptos

USDT’s addition underscores Aptos as the platform of choice for future-ready finance solutions.  In a recent report, Blockcrunch highlighted Aptos as a standout blockchain, boasting sub-second speeds, 99.99% uptime, and up to 100x lower gas fees compared to other Layer 1 networks.

Tether joins a suite of industry leaders tapping into Aptos to unlock the future of finance:

  • Ondo Finance, a pioneer in tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), integrated with Aptos to bring tokenized US Treasuries onto the blockchain.

  • Libre, a joint venture between Brevan Howard’s WebN and Nomura’s Laser Digital, chose Aptos to power its tokenization platform and brought tokenized fund products to the Aptos Network.

  • Franklin Templeton—recognizing Aptos' ability to meet the rigorous standards of their blockchain-integrated record-keeping system, Benji—chose Aptos as one of the blockchains to host their On-Chain U.S. Government Money Fund (FOBXX).

  • Aptos Ascend, an initiative from Aptos Labs, leverages partnerships with industry giants including MSFT, BCG, Brevan Howard, and SK Telecom to make blockchain technology more accessible and beneficial for traditional financial entities.

As summed up by the Blockcrunch report: “Aptos is becoming the backbone of real-world asset tokenization and institutional finance solutions, offering the scalability and security needed for lasting impact.”
